The Third Man (Criterion Blu-ray)
This title in particular has been the subject of a good deal of controversy on Elsewhere (among other sites), message boards, and email lists across the web. No one seems to talk about much aside from the "Grain Issue." Since the grain (or overabundance thereof) is the obvious elephant in the room, I'm going to address it before getting on to the additional content on display here, of which there is much to see and thoroughly enjoy. Tomorrow night's Barack-vs.-Hillary debate at Hollywood's Kodak theatre will be a political version of an American Idol season finale. Moderated by Wolf Blitzer, questions from L.A. Times reporter Doyle McManus and Politico's Jeanne Cummings, no time limits -- 5 to 6:30 pm Pacific. Invited guests will be let in at 2:30 pm, doors close at 4 pm; cameras, cell phones and PDA's verboten. This column will shut down around noon or so.

...but elevating this debate to legendary status is its venue...people will be talking about the Kodak Theater for years and years...at cocktail parties people will be asking each other, where were you when Hillary and Obama squared off in the Kodak???
